Dr. Covington is the Director of Quality and Safety in the Michigan Medicine Department of Radiation Oncology. She serves on several national committees regarding quality and safety and big data efforts in oncology. She currently serves as the chair of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Task Group 263U1 which is updating the standardized nomenclature used in radiation oncology. She also serves as the vice-chair of the AAPM Working Group on the Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System (RO-ILS). Dr. Covington has grant funding to develop automated workflows for data-driven quality improvement. She has grant funding to develop automated workflows for data-driven quality improvement. She has research interests in addressing health care imbalances in radiation oncology, the use of surface-guided radiotherapy in stereotactic radiosurgery, and the development and implementation of standards to facilitate big data and automation.
