The Breast Working Group, led by Dr. Lori Pierce, Dr. Frank Vicini, and Dr. Alex Moncíon, works to identify ways to improve breast cancer treatment for patients across the state of Michigan. A major focus of the group is further analysis of comparative effectiveness between 3DCT and IMRT for early stage breast cancer.
Areas of Current & Ongoing Focus:
- Investigate and quantify dosimetric differences between 3D and IMRT treatment planning
- Track and evaluate practice changes in breast cancer treatment over time with respect to dose prescription and boost delivery
- Leverage the collection of full DICOM data for greater understanding of the treatment delivered to patients enrolled in MROQC
- Identify and disseminate breast practices for radiation delivery for early stage breast cancer
